Our Mission: Save Lives and Support Self-Reliance

Afar Region

Nestled in the arid landscapes of northeastern Ethiopia, the Afar Region grapples with persistent challenges, including water scarcity and limited access to education. IHS has launched targeted projects to alleviate these concerns. Through water systems management initiatives, including borehole drilling and rehabilitation, IHS aims to enhance access to clean water, mitigating the impact of droughts. In collaboration with local communities, IHS has implemented school-based psychosocial support and emergency education classes, ensuring children receive vital education even in conflict-affected areas.

In response to the unique needs of the Afar Region, IHS is working to strengthen community resilience by equipping individuals with the skills and resources they need. Livelihood-focused projects, such as vocational training and business skill development, empower local residents to build sustainable futures. By fostering community involvement and collaboration, IHS is not only addressing immediate challenges but also laying the groundwork for long-term self-sufficiency in the Afar Region.
