MAKING A GENUINE DIFFERENCE

Innovative Humanitarian Solutions (IHS) was founded on July 1, 2003. IHS is an international non-governmental organization registered in the United States as a 501 (c) 3 non-profit entity. The vision of IHS is to discover and meet humanitarian and development needs in ways that help build an individual’s personal dignity and self-worth.

BREAKING THE CYCLE OF POVERTY

IHS, Ethiopia is legally registered by the Ethiopian Charities Agency as a foreign charity international NGO with a registration no. 3075 as of July 2013. IHS has not only been involved in Ethiopia to support Eritrean refugees. It has also committed itself to working in different parts of the world wherever there is a need for humanitarian assistance.

Our Programs

Child Protection and Social Support

IHS has supported more than 3,023  highly vulnerable children in its child protection and safeguarding program which included case management, child friendly space services, strengthening community based protection mechanisms, family tracing and reunification, strengthening coordination and communication of response, child protection database management, child protection focused awareness raising, capacity building trainings, individual and group psychosocial support services, life skill development sessions, need based material support for unaccompanied and separated children. It also provided educational, material and psycho social support in marginalized areas of Northern Ethiopia for children affected by the recent war.

GUARDIAN SUPPORT

It has been providing relief assistance and constructing basic facilities like dormitories, feeding halls, playgrounds,s, etc. at the transit center for the newly arriving unaccompanied minors.

Support guardians of these children in income generating activities through training and providing matching fund.

Supporting Internally Displaced Persons

Numerous households have been affected by the war that broke in Northern Ethiopia. To support these, IHS provided Food and Non-Food items.  IHS was also able to reach a total of 73,589 internally displaced persons in Tigray and 24,504 in Amhara region through awareness raising activities on protection related topics, referral pathways, protection monitoring site visits, PSS service, and community outreach services.  IHS also facilitated and provided emergency education sessions for on topics of life skill development, basic literacy sessions, and coping challenges.
